In conversations among youth and family service providers over the past few days (including NSPN's Facebook Live session this afternoon), linguistic distinction between physical and social distancing has been pointed out. The World Health Organization itself is encouraging this different way to look at our public health response to COVID-19.

This article from Psychology Today explores how critical social connections are for mental health: https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/the-refugee-experience/202003/lets-aim-physical-rather-social-distancing

We who work with youth in crisis and young people experiencing homelessness recognize the profound need for social support systems in this population. Search Institute has released a resource informed by youth about how to nurture relationships through digital means: https://www.search-institute.org/nurturing-relationships-online-advice-from-experts-youth.
