CYC: Foundations Course & Certification - Week 2

NSPN will facilitate the Child and Youth Care: Foundations Course and Certification training in Panama City, Florida in January 2018. Participants will strengthen their knowledge and skills in the Child and Youth Care field with high-quality, cost-effective training. The course builds on individual experiences of those who work with children and youth. Registration is limited to 25 participants. All experience levels are welcome.
Learning Objectives:
- Increased awareness, understanding, and sensitivity to how children and youth develop.
- Increased understanding of and capacity to engage in empowering interactions.
- Increased understanding of and capacity to work within and across systems (teams, families, cultures, and communities).
- Enlarged repertoire of activities and techniques for engaging youth in interactions and activities that will help them to develop skills essential to becoming independent.
- Increased capacity (understanding and skill) to discipline youth and resolve crisis.
- Increased awareness of careers in child and youth care and the fundamentals of professional practice.
- Increased ability to take and pass the entry-level CYC Certification Examination.
Course Dates: Week 1: January 16 - 18, 2018 Week 2: January 30 - February 1, 2018 Optional Certification Examination: February 2, 2018 Participants MUST attend both training weeks. Training Location: Anchorage Children's Home 2121 Lisenby Ave. Panama City, FL 32405
Registration Fee*: Base fee: $600 NSPN Member: $450 (25% discount) NSPN Professional Development Member: $300 (50% discount) Current RHY Grantee (funded staff): Free
*Fee includes cost of course and workbook. It does not include additional fee for certification testing at the end of the course. Participants are responsible for travel costs, including food, hotel, and transportation.
