Child and Youth Care: Foundations Training Part II
Participants in this course will strengthen their knowledge and skills related to the Child and Youth Care (CYC) field with this high-quality, cost-effective training. The course builds on individual experiences of those who work with children and youth. This comprehensive training covers the core competencies of professional practice, relationships, communication, documentation, guidance, and developmental practice.
Registration is limited to 25 participants. All experience levels are welcome.
Objectives:
- An increased awareness, understanding, and sensitivity to how children and youth develop
- An increased understanding of and capacity to engage in empowering interactions
- An increased understanding of and capacity to work within and across systems (teams, families, cultures and communities)
- An expanded repertoire of activities and techniques for engaging youth in interactions and activities that will help them to develop skills essential to becoming independent
- An increased capacity (understanding and skill) to help resolve crises
- An increased awareness of careers in child and youth care and the fundamentals of professional practice
- An increased ability to take and pass the CYC entry-level certification examination
Course Dates: The course is divided into two weeks with three days of training each. The training weeks are separated by at least one week to allow for processing, practice, and homework completion.
Part 1: January 7-9, 2020 – 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. CST Part 2: January 21-23, 2020 – 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. CST
Optional Certification Exam: Friday, January 24, 2020 – 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. CST
Please note: Participants MUST attend both training sessions to be eligible for certification.

*Fee includes cost of course and workbook. The fee does not include the cost of the certification testing at the end of the course, which is based on your preferred level.
