Getting to Know Your NSPN Family: What is your favorite holiday movie or special?

Getting to Know Your NSPN Family: What is your favorite holiday movie or special?

There’s a subtle chill in the air and all of the leaves have fallen down. The holidays are approaching and on top of all of the decorating and baking that takes place, there are plenty of tv specials and movies to get you in the holiday spirit. This month we asked your NSPN family: when the stockings are hung by the chimney with care, what is your favorite holiday movie to watch?

I’ll let Susan have White Christmas and share my favorite comedy – National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation! – Shauna Brooks, Performance and Evaluations Specialist

Soul Food is my all-time favorite. The family dynamics normalized and mirrored lots of my own family experiences growing up, and still to this day. Especially with the family being faith driven, having celebrations for this and that, and the Sunday drop-ins for dinner, desert, or a laugh. – April Carthorn, NSPN Membership Manager & T/TA

Meet me in St. Louis! I know all of the words and love all of the songs. There’s a pretty good chance you may catch me singing them in my office between now and Christmas. – Josie Elder, Operations Specialist

Tough question – I love White Christmas and Miracle on 34th Street. I love both of the stories, and the music from White Christmas. Miracle on 34th Street gives me hope that there really is a Santa Claus. – Susan Harmon, Director of Safe Place National Operations

I have to take two on this one. My favorite film is “It’s a Wonderful Life” – I keep looking for George Bailey to marry and it hasn’t worked out yet! My favorite animated feature is “Santa Claus is Coming to Town”. If you don’t celebrate when the Winter Warlock’s heart melts then you also probably don’t put one foot in front of the other! – Tammy Hopper, Chief Strategic Initiatives Officer & RHYTTAC Director

It’s a Wonderful Life – because you never know the difference or impact you make on others. – Laurie Jackson, President/CEO

A Christmas Story! It was always on at my Nana’s when we would go celebrate at her house on Christmas. She passed when I was 8, so I took it upon myself to carry on the tradition of watching it each year. This was definitely bolstered by TBS playing 24 hours of it beginning on Christmas Eve. That movie represents my childhood in a myriad of ways and I adore it. You’ll shoot your eye out kid! – Autumn Sandlin, Communications Manager

Elf. I love this movie. It makes me smile and who doesn’t love to smile? – Elizabeth Smith Miller, Director of Marketing and Events

Christmas with the Kranks – just because it’s very funny. I can identify with the empty nest syndrome and the temptation to go off on my own with Nancy instead of family gatherings! – Eric Tadatada, Technical Assistance Specialist

“It’s a Wonderful Life” – wouldn’t be Christmas without it. It has all the right stuff. – Mark Wolf, Director of Training and Technical Assistance
